The Worst Horror Movies So Far in 2020

Charles Johnson

Although we are only in the third month of 2020, so far there have been horror movies that have not brought in scares, thrills, or chills after people left the movies. Join me as I look at some of the worst horror movies of 2020 so far.

#1 – The Grudge 20% on Rotten Tomatoes

  • A remake of the original movie from 2004, audiences were hoping the new Grudge movie would be much better after the original received a 39% on Rotten Tomatoes. This is true of all remakes. For instance, the 11th installment in the Halloween franchise was thought to be another failed attempt for the franchise, but surprisingly it scored 79% on Rotten Tomatoes. But for The Grudge, not so great. Even with the poor score from critics, I would still recommend giving it a see.

#2 – The Turning 12% on Rotten Tomatoes

  • For me, after how disappointing The Grudge was I was hoping The Turning would hope to be much better, but nope; The Turning was given so far the worst rating with Fantasy Island right behind with a 10%. Sadly, 2020 has not been a good year for horror movies. From seeing some clips of it, I really thought it was a really good scary movie that I might have enjoyed, but I can’t be mad at other critics for their honest opinions.

#3 – Fantasy Island 10% on Rotten Tomatoes

  • This is the movie I’ve been excited for! Fantasy Island looked to be the most fun horror movie of 2020. But as soon as it was reviewed, Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 10%. While Blumhouse has not had some of the most successful movies over the years, I thought 2020 would be a fresh start for the franchise. But regardless of the rating it was given, I still cannot wait to see it. Based on the trailer, it looks like I will really enjoy it! Maybe you’ll enjoy it, too!

#4 – Brahms: The Boy II 9% on Rotten Tomatoes

Brahms: The Boy II is the sequel to The Boy from 2016 which got a 30% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. When I first saw The Boy I thought it would be like Child’s Play, but turns it out it wasn’t; it was a disappointment. Unfortunately, I found the sequel to be even worse. It was less scary and not enjoyable.
