Trolls Band Together has been a phenomenon. It has an outstanding cast, a beautiful
soundtrack, and a funny script for everyone watching. When you take a moment to look at it,
Trolls Band Together is really a beautiful work of art. Not only is the movie beautifully crafted
with its commentary, but it also has a feel-good pop soundtrack that stays in your head. Both of
these elements have combined in Trolls Band Together to create a cultural moment.
Trolls Band Together is a beautiful film. There are themes of relapse and what connects
families. Many of you may not believe this, but it’s true- Trolls Band Together covers all of these
topics. In the film, there is a recurring storyline of Branch, one of the main trolls, being offered a
Ring Pop. Branch repeatedly rejects the offer, saying he’s done with that “stuff”. However, when
the climax of the film approaches, Branch takes the Ring Pop. This may seem insignificant, but
it’s a turning point in the film. Branch starts taking the adventure more seriously and in his own
hands, in his control. Although the Ring Pop may be an allegory and joke for something else, it
also showcases Branch’s turning point from passive to more involved.
Trolls Band Together also provides a commentary about what really connects families. In
the movie, Poppy, the other main troll/princess troll, finds out she has a sister. She’s always
wanted a sister, and finding her was a dream come true. However, her sister was so happy to see
her that she didn’t want to let her go. It was a struggle for Poppy’s sister to let go of Poppy, and
after Poppy had to leave her sister interpreted her leaving as Poppy not liking her. But, Poppy’s
sister reappears at the end of the movie and serves a critical role in the climax. Poppy’s sister
realized family is about more than blood, it’s about being there for each other, and she realized
that she couldn’t just let Poppy go on her journey alone.
Finally, the music that this movie has is impeccable. Most of the songs on the soundtrack
are covers, but they’re done beautifully. They combine the elements of the original songs with elements that the movie is all about, creating a poppy and feel-good sound.
The music doesn’t take itself too seriously, and that’s what it should do. The movie is feel-good overall, so the
the best songs on the soundtrack, “Mount Rageous” and “Better Place (Family Harmony)”. “Mount
Rageous” is a song that builds so much tension and really makes the audience feel like they’re
caught up in the moment. If I was a character in the movie, I too would be enamored with Velvet
and Veneer, the duo that sing “Mount Rageous” and the main villains of the movie. The song is
empowering in nature and seems very narcissistic, but Velvet and Veneer’s voices are too good
to ignore. “Better Place (Family Harmony)” is the song that basically ends the movie and comes
after the trolls defeat Velvet and Veneer. The whole point of the movie was for the trolls to free
one of their brothers, but along the way some were also chasing the “perfect family harmony”.
This song is a combination of both goals. The song has tiny solos in it, but is overall a
culmination of all the trolls’ voices. No one sticks out unless they’re featured at one point in the
song; otherwise everyone is together and perfect. The song really takes you to another level. The
soundtrack’s popularity defined a big moment in the world for anyone who is online, largely
because of these two songs.
Overall, Trolls Band Together is an amazing movie that is worth a watch. It may seem
silly to recommend it, but it really is a movie for everyone. The music makes you move, the
storyline is cute, and the movie in general is a fun time.
