“pit, pat, pit, pat”
The rain hits the tarp roof above me
Soft grass tickling my face, arms, and legs as I lay
The air smells of wet earth, wildflowers, and the sweet, nutty smell of the trees
The birds all around sing their soft lullabies
Animals shuffle around to keep from getting wet
I arise from the ground and walk from underneath the hanging tarp
Immediately I feel the rain’s gentle, warmth against my skin
Soft kisses from the sky bless and envelop me in warmth and safety
I raise my head to the sky, close my eyes, and let the rain take control
Taking me to a new place of quiet and peace
“Oh Summer Rain, why don’t you come every day?”
